The Economic Leadership Forum provides an opportunity for local, state, and provincial leaders in both the public and private sectors to carry out in-depth, focused discussions on key subjects effecting our regional economy. Leaders from throughout the U.S. states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, and the Canadian provinces/territories of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Yukon and Northwest Territories will be in attendance tackling the policy matters that drive the economic strength of the region.

Disaster Resilience for Legislators
Nov. 19 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Participants will discuss and explore the roles and opportunities of legislators before, during and after disaster events; learn about the limits of current policy and strategy in disaster scenarios; and discuss ideas for future legislation and advanced understanding of what functions you can play in the post-disaster recovery phase. |
P3: Lessons From Canada
Nov. 19 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Consulate General of Canada in Seattle cordially invites you to attend an informative seminar on Public Private Partnerships (P3s). The seminar, being held in conjunction with the PNWER Economic Leadership Summit, will provide a contextual framework for the successful development and implementation of P3 projects. Topics to be covered include the history of P3s, project financing, and presenting models that have been successful in Canada. Attendees will hear from provincial, state, and municipal governments as well as private sector companies involved in P3 projects in Canada and the U.S. Read more here. |

Nov. 20 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Energy efficiency encourages affordability, jobs, competitiveness and resiliency throughout the PNWER region. This working session will focus developing a Roadmap to Net Zero Construction and Deep Retrofits by 2030. How does PNWER facilitate the achievement of net zero emissions for new buildings by 2030 and encourage the reduction of energy/emissions of existing buildings? |
Ocean Energy & Environment Roundtable
Nov. 20 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. The vision of North American energy independence requires creative use of our natural resources as well as integrating renewable forms of energy. Ocean energy takes many forms, presenting exciting opportunities for harnessing the power of waves and tidal movement to create power. This panel will address ocean energy projects, how ocean energy can be integrated into the greater North American energy picture, and the environmental impacts to be addressed as we move into the future of ocean generated power. |
Pacific Northwest Gateway: Working Waterfront Session
Nov. 21 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Explore the dynamics of global trade in the region during this working session on the water touring Elliot Bay. Experienced industry and public sector leaders will provide valuable context on the importance of the maritime sector to the regional economy. |
Developing a Regional Defense Against Zebra and Quagga Mussels Workshop
Nov. 21 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Please join us for this workshop to help coordinate efforts taking place throughout the Northwest, and identify the path forward for a bi-national, multi-jurisdictional approach to preventing invasive zebra and quagga mussels from infesting Northwest waters. This working session will identify next steps for developing a perimeter strategy for partnerships to prevent the spread of fresh water invasive mussels into the region. |
