About

The Trade Working Group is a coalition of legislators, industry leaders, and policy experts dedicated to strengthening the U.S.-Canada trade relationship and ensuring economic resilience in the face of evolving global challenges. As each other's largest trading partners and closest allies, Canada and the United States share deep economic ties that impact the stability and prosperity of the entire North American region. This working group fosters bilateral dialogue, strategic cooperation, and policy alignment to address key trade issues, enhance supply chain resilience, and navigate geopolitical uncertainties.
Through policy discussions, diplomatic engagement, and industry collaboration, the working group seeks to bolster trade partnerships, address barriers to commerce, and promote economic growth in both countries.
The working group is committed to:
  • Enhancing U.S.-Canada Trade Relations: Strengthen bilateral trade agreements, reduce barriers to commerce, and ensure policies support mutual economic growth.
  • Navigating Global Trade Challenges: Address the impacts of geopolitical disruptions, supply chain vulnerabilities, and economic uncertainty on North American trade.
  • Promoting Supply Chain Resilience: Develop strategies to mitigate risks posed by trade disruptions, improve infrastructure, and strengthen regional trade networks.
  • Facilitating Diplomatic and Economic Collaboration: Leverage high-level diplomatic discussions to align policies, strengthen partnerships, and address common economic priorities.
  • Encouraging Industry-Government Cooperation: Foster dialogue between policymakers and business leaders to ensure that trade policies reflect industry needs and market realities.
  • Addressing Emerging Trade Trends and Policies: Monitor shifts in global trade dynamics, including trade with China and other key partners, and develop forward-looking strategies.
By uniting policymakers and industry experts, the Trade Working Group plays a pivotal role in shaping a more integrated, competitive, and resilient North American economy, ensuring that trade remains a driver of shared prosperity and economic security.
