PNWER's Role in USMCA

The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) faces its first Joint Review on July 1, 2026, when the three nations will decide whether to extend the agreement for 16 years.

PNWER has long been engaged in North American trade policy development, having been involved in the renegotiation of NAFTA in 2018. We remain at the forefront of this process, engaging with business leaders and elected officials from across the region to champion an extended and secure USMCA. 

PNWER submitted comments to the United States Trade Representative and Global Affairs Canada encouraging that the USMCA be extended. Recommendations were informed by input from business and the public sector in the Pacific Northwest.
