         Portland and Oregon

Explore Portland

While you're at the Summit, take advantage of the opportunity to explore Portland. With its mellow feel, booming arts culture, and fresh take on sustainable city planning, Portland is a great place to explore. Whether you're visiting the Saturday Market, browsing the world's largest independent bookstore, Powell's, or snacking at one of the hundreds of Portland food carts, July is sure to be an awesome time to be a Portlander.

Portland is surrounded by beautiful mountains, rivers, and vineyards, and is a two hour drive from the breathtaking (if windy) Oregon Coast. The Summit offers a terrific kick start to any Oregon vacation and we encourage all participants take advantage of all Portland has to offer.

Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge

Only 50 minutes driving from Portland, Mt. Hood is a majestic destination. Whether you want to
take in a little summer skiing at Timberline Lodge or hike a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, the Mt. Hood National Forest is a must visit.

In the shadow of Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge is perfect for an adventure. With wind surfing, hiking, sailing, and more, the Gorge is a paradise for any lover of the outdoors.

 Oregon Coast

All 363 miles of the Oregon coast is public land. That means 363 miles of sand, surf, and tide pools available for everyone who wants to enjoy them. And it's impossible not to enjoy the Oregon Coast. Visit the quaint beach towns (Seaside and Canon Beach are only two hours from Portland by car), trace the path of Lewis and Clark, hike along the ocean cliffs, or simply take in the astounding sights of one of the world's most beautiful coast lines.

 Travel to Portland

Portland is a three hour drive from Seattle, reached by traveling south on Interstate-5. The Portland International Airport is located in Northeast Portland on the Columbia River. From the airport, the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower can be reach via car or taxi, or by taking the Tri-Met MAX light rail Red Line, which will take you straight from the airport to Pioneer Courthouse Square, one block north of the Hilton.

Bring your light rail ticket to the registration desk and win a gorgeous poster of Mt. Hood! While supplies last.
