Working Group and Event Support Internship:
Over 700 business leaders, legislators and key decision makers attend the Annual Summit in July. This internship will give students the opportunity to work with legislators examing policy on a variety of regional topics ranging from transportation to environment to trade and economic development, while learning the logistics of organizing a large conference with a wide variety of attendees. This intern will assist with event logistics including:

Manage correspondence with event attendees, sponsors and board members, such as producing and editing invitations, acknowledgement letters and follow-up letters

Assist in the coordination and support of PNWER's working groups, including arranging conference calls, note-taking and agenda development
-
Design promotional materials, assemble packets and programs
-
Prepare collateral materials for events
-
Track current and potential sponsors using database website Salesforce.com
-
Manage event registrations, tracking invoicing and receipt of payment
-
Develop content for bi-weekly PNWER newsletter
-
Maintain and develop PNWER website
-
Assist in Other Projects as necessary
Energy Policy Internship:
Support PNWER's Bi-National Energy Planning Initiative. This initiative has brought together the legislative energy chairs in each state and province, and industry leaders from both countries to examine supply and demand issues, transportaiton, permitting across multiple jurisdictions, and many issues that must be dealt with to secure efficient, reliable, low cost and environmentally safe energy supply for the future. Interns will work closely with PNWER staff and energy stakeholders to:

Research regional energy issues

Coordinate with legislative and private sector co-chairs to develop Energy Sessions during the PNWER Annual Summit and Economic Leadership Forum. This includes coordinating conference calls, inviting and tracking potential speakers and developing agenda items.

Assist with coordination of Legislative Energy Chairs meetings

Help prepare Energy reports

Update Energy website and database

Design collateral material and presentations for conferences

Critical Infrastructure and Homeland Security Policy Internship:
PNWER works with government agencies, legislators and private sector business leadership to research important security issues in the US and Canada. A major focus has been on critical infrastructure resilience, especially dealing with the interdependencies of the region's critical infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the cutting edge of infrastructure security, infrastructure disaster resilience planning and policy-making. Interns will work closely with stakeholders and staff to:

Prepare best practices

Develop a national website on Critical Infrastructure Resilience

Assist in the creation of an action plan for the region to develop regional disaster resilience

Get hands on experience in exercise planning and analysis

Work with the Homeland Security working group co-chairs to plan agendas for the working group sessions

Be the communication link with co-chairs and the speakers/panelists for the sessions at the conference

Assist with other projects as necessary
Communication Internship:
PNWER relies on coordinated communication between major private sector actors, government agencies, and other organizations in both Canada and the United States. Because of security and proprietary concerns, ensuring privacy and appropriate dissemination over the internet and local network is a concern. PNWER is seeking an intern for communication and media relations with an emphasis on cross-sector and cross-jurisdictional communication. This internship will enable the student to:

Assist in media outreach with an empahsis on writing press releases, identifying relevant media outlets and facilitating media coverage of PNWER's initiatives

Participate in media planning calls for PNWER events

Help organize Media at PNWER events

Develop PNWER collateral material and Annual Report content

Create monthly e-newsletter, conference alerts and other communication vehicles

Update PNWER website

PNWER relies on coordinated communication between major private sector actors, government agencies, and other organizations in both Canada and the United States. Design interns will work closely in the communication process to:

Design site layout and content for event websites
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and HTML recommended.
