I am pleased to invite you to attend the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) Annual Summit in Calgary, Alberta from July 16-20, 2010.

The PNWER Annual Summit is a productive forum for promoting collaboration among its regional partners. This meeting promises to be an exciting gathering of legislators, business leaders and policy experts. It will be an opportunity to explore key issues such as energy, environment and the related topics of climate change, agriculture and trade.

Energy will be particularly appropriate as Alberta is the energy capital of Canada, and a key energy supplier for North America. We look forward to offering site visits including a visit to the oil sands in Fort McMurray to demonstrate firsthand how this world-scale resource is being developed in an environmentally responsible way.

While with us, you can experience the world famous Calgary Stampede, take a short drive to Banff National Park in the spectacular Canadian Rockies or visit the world-renowned Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology in the nearby Alberta badlands.

I know you will enjoy the energy, culture and vitality of Calgary, and I look forward to seeing you at the 2010 PNWER Annual Summit.
