PNWER 2012 Winter Meeting

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho | November 14-17

We want to thank our over 120 participants for joining us for the PNWER 2012 Economic Leadership forum. It was a great event, and we a grateful for all our attendees, sponsors, and speakers. We will be posting presentations and session summaries soon, so please check back!

The Annual Economic Leadership Forum provides an opportunity for local, state, and provincial leaders in both the public and private sectors to carry out in-depth, focused discussions on key subjects effecting our regional economy. Leaders from throughout the U.S. states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, and the Canadian provinces/territories of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Yukon and Northwest Territories will be in attendance tackling the policy matters that drive the economic strength of the region.

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to join Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) Executive Director Matt Morrison and PNWER Executive Committee President Lyle Stewart in welcoming you to the 2012 Economic Leadership Forum in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  I know your meetings and the relationships you build here will enhance effective teamwork, communication and collaboration across state and national boundaries to our mutual benefit.

As a PNWER member, Idaho is committed to enhancing opportunities with our Western neighbors. That is the goal of the new PNWER Idaho Council, which I hope becomes a model for other states and provinces to emulate. This new organization will help build and improve partnerships throughout the Pacific Northwest and contribute to economic growth.

This year’s conference will include topics on border policy, invasive species, energy, transportation and commerce. I encourage all participants to take advantage of the opportunity to strengthen valuable connections with government and business leaders and work together to make the Pacific Northwest even more fertile ground for enterprise and industry.

Again, I am thrilled that Idaho is hosting this year’s Economic Leadership Forum and I invite and welcome you to return with family and friends to explore more of the Gem State in the very near future.

As Always, Idaho "Esto Perpetua"

C.L. Butch Otter

Governor of Idaho
